The Blackwood & District Historical Society collects, preserves and shares the history of Blackwood and the surrounding districts. Photographs, documents, maps, artefacts and records that cannot be replaced, telling the stories of the people, families and events that shaped this region, including our long connections with neighbouring communities such as Ballan and Trentham.
All of it sits under one roof, and that roof is now the problem.
The roof is leaking and cannot be repaired
It has passed the point where patching it will do any good. It needs replacing, and it needs replacing urgently. Every photograph, document and artefact in our care is underneath it.
We are asking Blackwood and the broader community for help to fund the work and protect the collection for the generations who come after us. Any amount helps.
