Why Membership Matters
The Blackwood & District Historical Society is fully incorporated and run entirely by volunteers. Members are what keep it going.
Your membership fee goes straight into the practical work of the Society: keeping the Police Stable Museum open and maintained, caring for the photographs, documents and artefacts people trust us with, and putting Blackwood's history on the record through our books and recordings.
Members are also welcome at our monthly meetings, where we go through new information and donated artefacts and plan the working bees and outings for the year ahead. You do not need a background in history. An interest in the district is plenty.
What Membership Includes
Mailing List Updates
Members go on our mailing list and hear from us between meetings, with news from the museum, new material that has come into the collection and what the committee is working on.
Free Museum Entry
Members visit the Police Stable Museum free of charge on any of our open days. Bring your visitors along and show them what the district looked like in the gold rush years.
Invitations to Events
The Society runs events through the year, including talks, outings, open days and working bees. Members are invited to all of them.
How to Join
Membership runs by calendar year. For 2026 it is $10 for an individual and $15 for a family. Registering takes a couple of minutes online, and the form will show you the current membership types and fees.
