For the past few months a hard-working team of volunteers has been giving the Society's building the care it has long deserved, and the difference is hard to miss.
The work has taken in the meeting room, the main hallway, the entrance way and the kitchen. Every wall has been plaster repaired, patched and repainted, and we have relocated some of the shelving along the way to make better use of the rooms and to keep our collection well housed.
From the outside you will spot the new veranda, a welcome bit of shelter for visitors arriving at the museum and a real lift to the front of the building.
We have also carried out a number of repairs to the roof to put a stop to the leaks that have troubled us over recent seasons. Keeping the weather out is the best protection our archives and artefacts can have.
All of this has been done by our members and friends giving up their weekends with brushes, rollers and ladders. Our sincere thanks to everyone who has pitched in.
We are now looking forward to holding a grand opening and welcoming the public in to see the results for themselves. Details will be announced here and on our Facebook page, and we hope to see you there.
