Well, that's a wrap on another successful Easter Sunday night Bingo event.

The prizes this year were a definite step up from previous years thanks in no small part to the following generous businesses:

  • Pig and Whistle Hotel — East Trentham
  • Cosmopolitan Hotel — Trentham
  • Blackwood Hotel
  • Blackwood General (Coffee Roasters)
  • Blackwood Post Office Cafe
  • Garden of St Erth (Diggers Club) Blackwood
  • GDTA — The Great Dividing Trail Association

We really appreciate your help guys. Please support these businesses when you can as they have put their philanthropy where their mouth is — so to speak.

Special thanks to local Garry Amy who donated one of his original paintings for the raffle — many tickets were sold for this. Congratulations to Bree from Guildford as the lucky winner.

The Blackwood chapter of the Western Bulldogs supporter group donated a metre of firewood for auction. Cr John Keogh was the lucky bidder, who we all know paid over the odds for it — thanks mate.

A special mention to our members, family and friends who assisted with all the steps involved in holding such an event. Also, our Crown Reserves committee for use of the hall and the Over 55s Social Club for use of the kitchen facilities.

We cannot forget the past work of the Hall family in staging this now staple event on the Blackwood calendar. As the saying goes, from little things, big things grow. Your foresight will be your legacy.

Finally, thanks to our mayor Steve Venditti-Taylor for being the caller/MC for the night. Steve was attending our meetings and excursions before his current position so we appreciate his friendship as much as anything else. Considering he only had two minutes training beforehand he did a great job — a true natural.

I think he certainly has a future as a "gun for hire" at Senior Citizen Bingo nights around the state when his current job ends! I'm sure a dozen scones would get him over the line, ladies.
